Back out on Saturday for a half day trip with a father son combo and we kind of ran into an approaching cold front that really put a damper on the fishing. Things started out decent at best as we worked a couple of spots, one in 8 feet of water over stumps/rock combination and found nothing, our next stop was a shallow wind blown shoreline with lots of wood and here we found one good keeper eye along with a few smaller throwbacks and a few skinny pike. Sad to say that was about the extent of our success as the winds switched directions and so did the fish. We tried other shallow spots, deep water and mid depths over wood and weeds and found short hitting fish for the most part, it was like you get a bite, you feed it to them and nothing there when we set the hook, just came back with a jig with no crawler or leech attached. It was one of those days that you hope never happens to you, but it did and we tried to make the best of a bad day with only one eye along with a big jumbo perch to show for it. It's like getting knocked down in the ring, you get up and keep on fighting, so I'll be back out on Monday hoping for much better success.
