    Post Fishing report - june 1 - june 21

WOW, What a start to the season here at AML. Fishing has been incredible with 9 Walleye over 30" to date amongst multiple in the 25-29" range. 8 Northern above the 40" mark have been also caught and as always here at AML all Trophy Fish have been Released along with a photo never to be forgotten. Water Temps seem to be consistent in the main basins of lake to shallow bay's at 59 - 63 degrees. Walleye's are starting to move onto main lake shallow rock bars where majority of our biggest have been found in Depths of 12-18', However abundance and some other nice quality Walleye are still near Creek Mouths and shallow bays with emerging weed beds. 1/8 ounce Jigs tipped with minnows/grub and spinners have been the ticket for Walleye. Some excellent catches of Smallmouth Bass ranging from 16-21" and 40-80 catch day's per boat have been happening the last few day's. They are definitely on their beds on darker sections of the lake or shallower lakes. Popping and floating raps or drop shot have been doing extremely well. Smallies on Clearer/deeper portions of lake seem still a little spooky but catchable just inside and outside spawning areas roaming in pairs. Wacky worms, Flukes, and suspending cranks seem to be getting it done the most. Trout are still active but starting to go deep into depths of 30'-40'. Windy day's and mornings have been best with jigging spoons and jigs tipped with meat, trolling #5 spinner rigs with a shiner, sucker strip, or gulp and spoons. Weed growth has been progressing well, and we are seeing some weed beds almost to the top in the darker water sections of the lake. Clearer sections of the lake weeds are half way to the top and we are seeing some bigger Northern starting to appear in the best rock and weed combos especially on flats and bay's, inside and outside of reeds/timber within them. Shallow bay's are still the best pitching point for Northern with spinner baits, raps and spoons. Muskie season starts this Saturday and we all are anxiously waiting for the first cast. Sightings in shallow bays and incidental catches caught and released while messing with bass fisherman or plunging onto an already caught walleye with jig, are giving us an anticipated good sign to a great season. Many 50' plus reported and seen and we are looking forward to it. Weather patterns have been somewhat consistent with daily highs of high 60's into low 70's and some cool nightly temps of high - mid 50's - low 60's. Still have some limited availability left throughout the season, but openings have been filling quick. Be sure to check out our Facebook page and hit like to see some of our great catches this year along with reports and videos. I WILL be posting another update next week and once Musky opens Saturday, I will be giving reports periodically on weather patterns and techniques.
