Musky fishing for the first five days of the season has been about what you would expect after the late ice out. Muskies are in the shallows around the sparse new weed growth and spawning pan fish. The best lures have been swim baits and 6" twitch baits. Most of the action has been from fish in the 30"-36" size, had a follow from one 45" plus a couple evenings ago but she wasn't quite ready to eat. It's very important to move through the area you're fishing very slowly and make a bunch of quality casts to give the fish multiple opportunities to hit your lure, also be sure to do a good figure 8 at boat side as many fish have been following late. The warm weekend should help the action improve as we move into June and I expect the larger fish to start eating more within the next week or two. Good Luck!!
