    Default Ice Out 2014

'Ice out' defined as the first day a boat successfully goes to Youngs Bay from Baystore-or vice versa.Winner get's their choice of a lure out of Frankies box.
My guess is 5/21 at noon.

Pretty optimistic I think! I'll go with 5/27 at nightfall. We where out at Lunatic two days ago and there was a foot of snow on top of lots of very solid ice. We could barely get through with a 30" auger with a 18" extension. Going to be late ice out, unless we get some warm rains, and lots of wind. Been drilling holes in the LOTWs for around 50 years and this is about as bad as I can remember.

I'm going to say we get some warm weather and ice out is May 18th in the afternoon.

Over the years that I kept records (around 30 years or so), I found that the lake usually opens about one month after than the Warroad River opens.

Right now we are still driving on it. Don't like next weeks forecast either.

I would say about a week away. Will be a newspaper article regarding the big one in the Big Kahuna in this coming Sunday's Grand Forks Herald. I'll post something when available.

Just about gone. Even if the wind goes south, don't think it could make the trip back.

I know, and I will again. Last time was my honeymoon. Maybe getting married again will make it happen, though that would mean ditching the mrs, and I kind of like her. Hmm. Maybe I'll marry her again?
