It's July 25th and it's nice to feel the cool air again. Ten day forecast calling for highs around 75 degrees.

The recent warm front, reaching into the 90's, worked out OK for 9 year old Carter Bendickson as he landed the biggest Walleye of his life, a 26 7/8 incher. This puts Carter in 5th place on our guests top ten Walleyes for our 2013 fishing contest. Steve Houliston's 29 incher remains on top of the leader board.

Kathy and Conrad Johanning were fishing with their Grandson Austin Becker back in June. Austin took the lead in our 2013 Bluegill/Sunfish/Pumpkinseed category with a ten incher. Kathy tied it the next day. Then Conrad tied it two days later. I measured all three of those fish. They remain in a 3-way tie for the lead.

Chuck Wyant landed a 34 1/2 inch Muskie. His Wife Char netted the fish. Together they quickly took pictures of Chuck holding the fish, as well as on a measuring device. Then they promptly released the fish alive. Chuck leads the Muskie category in our 2013 Fishing Contest.

Don Weaver leads our Largemouth Bass category with the 20 1/4 incher he landed in June. Reed Hoeppner is in 2nd with his 20 incher. Lynn Wagler is 3rd at 19 3/8 and Dean Rodriguez is 4th at 19 inches.

Darrell Fowles is our Perch leader at 12 1/4 inches. Penny Antell is in 2nd at 12 1/8, while Dede Brabec-Gruber and Norman Graber are tied for 3rd at 12 inches.

Bob Thiele leads the Crappie category at 15 inches. Jason Haag and Bill Thiele are tied for 2nd at 14 1/2. Eddie Houi is next with a 14 1/8 incher and Andrew Lampereur is 5th at 14 inches.

Jack Ploof leads the Pike category at 32 1/2 inches. Eddie Houi landed the biggest Rock Bass at 12 inches. Matthew McCarty and Chase Rygg are tied for 2nd at 11 3/4 inches. Steven Stoll landed the biggest Bullhead at 14 inches. Cooper Berndickson is 2nd at 13 1/2.

You know, it would be real easy to exaggerate and inflate these numbers. Instead, we do it fair and accurate. Many of these names are kids names. The contest is fun. We close the mouth and squeeze the tail and measure them all the same. Accurate.

Come to Oak Haven and be part of the fun. Every bite could be a top ten fish.
