6/22/13
again a full camp of wonderful guests last week all going home happy with outstanding services, catching fish, good times, and waiting to return next trip.
water temps hovering in the high 60's,pretty much the same as weather stayed in the 70's daytime 60's nite time thru the latter part of the week.
some misquitos at dark so bring some deet.
walleyes stayed very consistant with shallow patterns, many groups reported 35-100 fish days daily.still mostly jigs, spinner rigs though one group destroyed them thurs and fri reporting 100-150 fish days with many in and over slot to 28.5" with just a hook and shot with a dace minnow very slowly elec trolled or drifted over deep grass 9-13'.fish also moving into cabbage beds with weedless slo poke jigs and shallow rock humps.
no signs yet of approaching mayfly hatch other than cleaned fish are feeding on unhatched larve over mud flats.
trout on remote boat cache lakes remained very good at 25-45', #5 chart spinner rigs 3/4-1 oz weight, shiners, or cleos. eagle fish still scattered and not bunched up in holes yet.
some bigger pike 32-38"+ now showing up in thicker emerging cabbage beds on eagle. spinnerbaits, spoons, suspending jerked minnowbaits, and incidently on jigs and minnows walleye fishing.
bass on deeper beds in 6-8' of water, shallower beds done, also depends on what section of lake.casting mixed rocky/sandy reed combos and shallow broken rock shorelines/fingers on nearby shorelines and islands as well as same combos with logs and drowned timber for those post spawn flukes,x-raps,jig and ring worm. on beds drop shot and minnow or leech.
muskies using weeds and shallow rocks. most action has been on blades though some fish on jerkbaits and topwater. they definatly want the thermal heat of the sun. sunny windy days been best by far and early evenings till sun hits the tree line.cloudy days to this point more sporatic and action usually occuring when sun pops out.most fish boated have been 42-48" though some big fish already moving. thurs me,mikie, and scotty all had guests lose fish 50"+,2 of them pushing mid 50's. big fish hitting soft and rushing boat.big fish bite should just keep getting better and more showing up as post spawn recoup period nears end .
good luck to all those coming to see us or visiting in the area and for those not having a trip booked yet there's still a few openings and opportunities for an outstanding trip.see prior post for availablity.
