Monday a friend and I fished the Upper Escanaba River and did well. The first fish of the day was a 19" smallie. We landed and released seven bass and two trout. The trout were 13 and 14 inches, a brown and a rainbow. A #9 floating jointed Rapala in orange and a chrome/blue Tiny Torpedo were best. Tuesday we fished the bay using minnows and crawlers from Bay View. The west side breaklines in 25 feet produced 14 keeper perch with two over twelve inches apiece. Our fishing time was two hours on the river, and three hours on the bay.
