Surprisingly, despite the recent cold temps, fishing hasn't been just too bad. We caught some nice walleyes, northerns, and crappies the past couple of days. Walleyes were taken on jig and minnow combinations and were relating to new cabbage, where you could find it. Weed growth has been slow to develop with the late Spring but where you find the new growth is where you will find fish. Crappies were also surprisingly active when we found them and hit plastics under a bobber. Most still had spawn in them. Smallmouth bass are still a little sluggish though and will need a few warm days to get them going. I'm not saying that fishing on all lakes is great because a couple lakes I tried were really slow. Nice thing about our area though is that we have allot of choices and if you keep looking you can generally find active fish somewhere.
