Fishing in the Three Lakes and Eagle River area has been hot! Water temps on the ER and TL chain are ranging from 58 to 62 degrees. Weed growth is a little behind but as Jason mentioned earlier, when you find green weeds - and a little wind - you have found the fish!!! Walleye, pike and perch are hitting 1/16 oz jig and minnow combo aggressively in 4-6 feet of water. Prespawn smallmouth bite has also been very good with crankbaits producing on rocks near spawning areas but look for these fish to be on beds soon as water warms.

Muskie fishing has been good too. I have found active fish very shallow in 1-4 feet feet of water - we have literally been casting onto the shore. Bucktails and small minnow baits are working but, you can't beat a 1/16 oz jig and minnow for muskies during this time of the season! We caught 3 muskies up to 36 inches on Sunday on 6 lb test while fishing walleye near rock/weeds - talk about exciting!

Panfish are being caught very shallow around wood and dead reeds. Crappie can also be found shallow in the dead reeds as well.

Mid-day and later bite is strongest with water temps reaching their highest level during this time.

Look for fishing to continue to improve in the coming weeks with a gradual warming and weed development.

Good luck and fish hard!
