Memorial Day, 2013. First and foremost I would like to thank all the vets who have given the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy the freedoms we take for granted. Walleye fishing continues to be strong on Leech. Jigs tipped with minnows are still the best presentation. Some folks are also using live bait rigs. Some caution must be used when using the Lindy rig type presentation. On most occasions when we detect that little tap we release the line which allows the walleye to run with the minnow, leech, or crawler. Many times this action results in deep or gut hooked fish. If the fish is in the 18 to 26 slot and must be released removing the hook can result in a dead fish. Enough said, be careful please.

Fish still remain fairly shallow in the 7 to 10 foot range. Wind plays a big factor in how active the fish are. Play the wind and fish the wind blown areas. A little common sense should be used when fish are shallow. Don't be the moron who blasts through the tighty grouped boats to set up another drift, the fish will eventually be spooked. Use your electric trolling motor or go around the fish holding area. Good luck.
