Ice fished there this winter and walked on sand for a long way from where it looked like a dock would go.

Haven't launched there but unless the dredge the heck out of it - it is likely to be a challenge. Not sure where you want to fish but the launch at farmers dock which is south of hunters point is pretty nice and never used. It may be a bit of a drive to where you want to fish but is a great option for those that are on the south end of the penninsula.

    good luck this weekend!

How much lower are the water levels than last year ?

Check out this link... Looks like another 7.5 inches since earlier this year and that reference point is probably lower than last summer. This data may be influenced by wind direction which is also noted.

oops - operator error! sorry - I misenterpreted the data. You can look at annual data summaries to get a gage. May only be a couple of inches... My bad - sorry!!

i gave up on hunters point launch along time ago, its usually really shallow and has tons of prop eating deadheads. by water gladstone harbor and kipling are less than 10 min away, and the newly dredged launch at rapid isnt terrible.

It may depend on the wind/weather fronts or tides. It is amazing how the water levels can vary, sometimes to over a foot or more. A strong N or NW blows a lot of water out of the bay. We end up taking hip boots with us in case we can't get into our dock without hanging up or pushed on a sandbar. We have never had to use that launch though, but like it has been said, someone should have a better answer for you.

To those interested the launch is fine. We launced 2 19' boats without any problems and never hit anything.
It actually looked better than last year.
