Hi everyone,

Had Dave and D.J. out for a full day today. With stormy conditions threatening all day, we fished hard for what we caught. We caught 4 walleyes in the morning keeping two with a nice smallie released by D.J. and in the afternoon, we boated a northern and that was all we were able to muster. By mid afternoon we were chased off the lake by thunder and lightning.

We used jigs and minnows and jigs with leeches and only the minnows produced. Had a few hits on the leech but nothing took it. Most of the hits were light all day. We fished the woody flats and humps and a hard bottom point where the smallie was caught to soft bottom humps with little to show for it. The South wind was to strong to drift effectively and in a few cases the anchor was dragged.

The water temps rose to 59 degrees and the air temps got up to the mid 70's. last night we had a helluva storm that dropped 2 1/2" of rain on the Big Chip. that rose the water level even higher. I was hoping for a good bite with the conditions we had, but it didn't happen in my boat. Always tomorrow. Good luck fishing everyone.
