Flowage Pikes!
Hi. I'm just curious how the pike fishing has been for larger specimens? Now that you can target them through the ice, I would guess some dandy pike have been showing up.
We usually run into some on our fall musky hunt. It's funny, out of our group of 4 theres one guy who can hardly ever catch a musky, but he has nailed some big pike over the years. Several nice ones 10-15lbs, and one that went 39" and 18lbs. This was the largest our group has caught, but I know there's BIGGER, and some tigers too.
So... How bout them PIKES!Attachment 19490

The northern pike have been on a downward slide the last five or six years. There are a few nice ones out there but not as many as a few years back. They usually cycle with the perch. Right now the perch are peaking so you'll see the pike population start to rise. If you find a good weedy area in the winter you'll run into some nice pike. The winter pike season has closed now though so you'll have to look forward to next year.
