For those of you that were assigned PIT tag Scanners to scan muskies caught on Lake Monona please return the Scanners to me at the Feb. 11 Awards Meeting @ 5100 Club. We need to check the condition of each scanner, replace batteries, etc.

We had an excellent year of scanning muskies with verified PIT tags implanted in the muskies over the years. 19 muskies were scanned and had PIT tags implanted in them or positive hits. Of those 19, ten of them were Leech Lake strain Minnesota muskies. The others were Wisconsin-Chippewa strain muskies. If memory serves, the largest was a 38.5" Leech strain. DNR has PIT tagged Wisconsin muskies and Leech Lake strain muskies since 2006 in Lake Monona. In addition 2005 was the first year Leech strain and Wis. strain were stocked and fin clipped, however PIT tags were not available until the 2006 stocking thru 2012.

Wis. DNR Biologists scanned 4 muskies in the Fyke nets last spring that had PIT tags implanted. All four were Wisconsin strain.

Due to the great success of the 11 Scanners CCMI Board of Directors and Officers voted to purchase two more Scanners this year!
