    Default Dec 17th report

Ice conditions remain very sketchy. There is limited fishing going on throughout the area. The typical stand in the crowd early ice locations of Minocqua, Arb, Carrol are producing a mixed bag, however lots of early ice bites haven't happened for me because the ice isn't safe there yet. Although you can do everything right, safety is the main priority...right Ronnie??

I did manage to get out with a group Thursday thru Saturday and we did do very well on walleyes and a few nice perch. We iced over 40 walleyes in 2 1/2 days, with 22 over 15". Not bad. Lots of little pike to keep us busy too. Jigging Rapalas and sucker baited tip ups was our approach.

This weeks weather looks to cool down and make some ice....the long range for next week shows a lot of cold, cold weather. Trout Lake remains wide open.

Hopefully we will have a great winter for fishing and snowmobiling, and hopefully this means that it is starting late....

    Good Luck!
