    Default Lac Vieux Desert 12 -7 -12

We hit first ice today. There is a solid, clear 3-3 1/2", and didn't hardly crack when walking around. Cleats are an absolute necessity, for now, but the forecast is calling for 4-6" snow starting Sun. AM. That certainly won't help formation of solid base, and will surely create slush at first, til we finally get some sub-zeros. Northerns & perch were the active feeders today. First time in years here on north shore, with the clear ice that we can see the entire weed beds for great hole placement. Caution is the WORD and don't forget your ice picks & cleats, as you can see, the surface is an ice skaters dream. Fying Flags!

    Dave:

Nice to see a report. Miss da boys, in fact saw MM's report on Channel 12 weather the other night, but that's about as much as I've heard from him since this spring. Saw Pete last night at Fibbers with his wife after he finished his concert tour for the weekend. Got on the ice finally fir the first time over here on Minocqua. Stood on 3"-4" of reasonably solid ice and searched for some perch. Not so much luck, but it was sure fun to be standing on it again for the new season. Good luck over there and stay safe!!!
