A small cool down has hit the area and again bringing some cooler water temps. Most lakes are still hovering around the 70 degree mark, however, I believe this will be the last time we will see this number appear on the graph screen. Fish reacted to cool down by moving heavily into the weeds and weed edges.

Walleyes: Still finding them around deeper rock/gravel to mud transitions, but some days they have really been active in the wind blow shoreline weeds...had a great catch of 'eyes on Big St Wednesday doing this. A simple jig and crawler presentation is working best. Minnows(large fatheads/redtails) are starting to work on jigs on the largest/deepest lakes in the area. As the water temps continue to drop, the minnow bite will pick up.

Muskies: Shallow weeds and flats have been holding these guys over the last week or so. Double Cowgirls, Little Louie's, and topwaters are getting Mr. Muskie's attention. The algae blooms that are happening on most lakes also are driving these fish into the shallows too. Just because the water is greenish in color, doesn't mean the lake is in turnover. Turnover by definition happens around the mid 50's. I have seen some deeper activity on Bulldawgs, but not as much as the past weeks.

Crappies: These fish are using the weed edges in 12-15 feet and suspending half way down. Mini-Mites and 1" Gulp Minnows are working well under a float. As the weeks continue, crappies will start suspending over mud flats too.

Good Luck!
