water temps 71-75 depending upon day and weather. most rains have been in the pms,no or few bugs,no fire bans in our area, and weather has been generally beautiful with day time temps avg 70's and low 80's.
was a great week jammed with wonderful guests and friends and some big fish boated.
the miler/miles group had pike to 42",walleyes to 29" and over 800 walleyes total, trout to 25#,and muskies to 48".
the opperman's had walleyes to 27",pike to 43",and the young boys got thier first muskies.
the dunnets had 6 muskies biggest 54.5".
walleye patterns remain the same as in previous reports though starting to drop a bit deeper some days, 20-32' with most action 26-30' on and off reefs and flats off humps. pm trolling bite still going in main lake basins over 60-80' of water 5-12' down. tons of eater size fish 14-17" with enough slots and over to keep it interesting. bigger fish tend to be in smaller loose pods and smaller fish literally look like a 2-4' carpet on the graph.
some big pike 37-43" showing up regularly while fishing walleyes mostly with a big 44" 21" girth 25#er by the mcginnis group being the largest. also some big pike being caught casting dawgs from tops of reefs out to deep and bringing back up. good way to look for big muskies also as lots of big muskies are deep with the walleyes right now and it's an almost daily occurance for someone to have 1 or several following or grabbing hooked walleyes. these fish are hard to get to fishing tradtionally from deep to shallow. muskies on structure last week were generally showing less numbers seen daily but biting out more often than not instead of lots of follows and some at boat side strikes. it's been a mix of blades, cranks, and dawgs, got to mix it up and see what they are moving best on daily.
lake trout were fished 2 days last week with both days fish 32-39" 17-25 # caught and released. 60-80' on spoons.
still got some excellent availablity in end of aug and sept for some of the best fishing of the season as water temps cool off.
