Well the weather has been hot and fishing has been holding together through this heat, but I would not mind a cool down just to make it more tolerable on the water. We have been trying to get on the water as early as possible to beat the heat and most walleyes are being caught before 9:00 am or after 7:00 pm in the evening. Most fish have been taken in the weeds working jigs and leeches or half a crawler. Again we are using 1/16 or 1/32 jigs fishing these heavy weeds and the bites have been light, with some just picking it up and swimming towards the boat so watching the line is very important. We have also been picking up the occasional bass when fishing the rock bars later in the morning after the weed bite has slowed. Even the muskie fishing has remained good as the youngster pictured landed his first ever as he was 9 years old. Please if on the water take plenty of water and keep the sun screen handy. I will report back soon.Click image for larger version.
