Walleyes were biting, but hard to pinpoint in one consistent pattern this week. People had very good days fishing in 6-12 feet, 24-28 feet and even 40-50 feet! Yes, that is correct. Big fish were in 40-50 feet of water one day during the week with multiple 25-28" caught and released from the depth. Jiggs and live bait were the ticket for most.

Bass anglers did well up against rockt shorelines, particularly with the wind blow into them. Walleyes and northerns were also caught casting cranks tight to shore in those situations.

Another boat landed 5 muskies while trolling walleye crank baits on shorelines on Friday, the day prior to muskie season opening for 2012. Hopefully that will be a good sign for today and the rest of the season now that those of us that actually observe the closed season will be out there with the big gear chasing our fave fish in the lake.

Among the many big walleyes caught and released this week was a 29.75" old fossil by Paul B (Vesta, MN). Paul is the new leader for the Largest released Walleye of the year award. Also of note was a 19.5" Smallmouth CPR'd by Dan L (IA.) Dan's smallie will be tough to beat for the largest released bass of the season. Some photos on the facebook page so far and more to come! Special mention needs ot be made of youngster Amanda G's personal best 27.5" walleye that she caught and released along with a 26.5" as well. Amanda will hold the lead for largest released walleye by a youth (under 18) this year. AWESOME JOB EVERYONE!

Weather looks reasonably stable in the coming days and should make for another great week of fishing action. The weather this week left a little to be deisred with a mixture of wind, rain and storms that could have stirred things up a lot more than it seemd to.

Overall another busy week on Mylie's. Looking forward to getting out muskie fishing a little this weekend if possible.

Good luck where ever you get your line wet this week.
