A week of warm (sometimes HOT) stable weather produced some great fishing conditions and turned the walleyes on to summer patterns. Many groups reported their best week of fishing weather wise in years, if not ever.

Humps started to produce the most action and some of the usual spring type spots weren't as productive, leading a few groups to struggle a bit until they adjusted their approach. Jigs/minnows were the best presentation of the week while spinner still produced soem good results as well. Remember to work the entire reef and off the edges to make sure you cover the whole area and find out what part of the structure the fish are holding to.

Fish up to 29 inches were caught and released, including multiple personal bests once again.

Not many people chasing northerns or bass so the reports on them will be think this week.

Conditions are super dry through the district so please use extreme caution if cooking shorelunch out on the lake. Some rain in the forecast would be welcome to lessen the fire hazard. Mayflies began in earnest Wednesday and Thursday evening so weve got the yard lights out at night to keep them from flocking around them and your boats and vehicles. WIth the fish on the rocks, they seem to be less affected by may fly hatch as not as many walleyes will be in the mud eating them as they come up into the water column. That is just a theory, but it has held some weight on years with fish out in summer patterns earlier than normal.

Another full load of anglers will be coming into the resort this weekend so we expect more great fishing to be done and had by many.

Good luck on the water, everyone.
