With the warm spring we had all over the country, anglers entered opening week (May 12-19) with a sense of adventure. No one really knew what to expect. It wasn’t cold out like opening week usually is. Water temps were around 55 degrees when the week began and rose to around 60. Walleye anglers were treated to blooming flowers, yards being mowed and goslings.

Early in the week anglers enjoyed meal sized 14 to 16 inch Walleyes in good numbers. But they had to work for them. A few guys said “Walleyes are not where we normally get them.” Anglers had to battle 20 to 30 mph winds in most places. By mid week and the end of the week, our guests had landed a 26 inch, 24 ½ inch and two 24 inch Walleyes. Many in the 19-22 inch length were landed. See our pictures in our Photo Gallery and on Facebook.

Norma Domras landed her first Muskie. Since boaters are required to go slow in the river channel (law was created to protect nesting waterfowl)…Norma takes advantage of that by trolling. Her plan produced a nice 36 inch Muskie that was hooked just a few yards from our docks. Since I was at the boat ramp, I was able to quickly take some pictures before the fish was released alive.

We are looking for a large group of anglers that would like to rent big Cabin # 11 for opening week 2013.
