Windy, windy, windy thats what the weather brought this week making it tough on the anglers.

Water temp 64 to 66 degree's

Gills and Largemouth Bass are up in the shallows getting ready to spawn. Crappies are out in deeper water.

Bluegills, use worms or small leeches with a #6 or 8 wire hook below a small bobber and no split shot, We like the Rocket Bobbers because they are easy to cast and are very sensitive. The gills are right up near the shoreline and are very easy to catch. Please do not over harvest.

Perch, up on the flats in 4 to 7 feet of water. 1/16 oz jigs tipped with a beavertail or small leeches. Slip bobbers with minnows worked along the weed edges also productive. Nice catches out of Lake Nokomis with some over 12 inches.

Bass, Largemouth in the shallows use rubber worms or tubes. Work the edge of the shallow weeds and pockets where these fish spawn. Some very nice Bass this week. Smallies are up on the gravel bars with deep water nearby. Shallow running crankbaits such as the Baby ones by Mann's or the all time favorite jig and leech. Remember catch and release only at this time of the year.

Walleye's most anglers are running crankbaits in the 6 to 10 foot depth with Salmo's being the hot lure this week with a lucky angler catching a nice 26 inch Walleye on Wed. Working the shallow rock bars at sunrise or before has been very good, use shallow shad raps in the Bluegill color pattern. Drifting the channel edge on Lake Mohawksin with Lindy Rigs and crawlers working well also.

Hope its a good weekend of fishing!

Pike, active, very active nice fish caught below the smaller dams in the area with fish up to 38 inches. Use sucker fishing in these area's. On the Lake spinnerbaits are hot, just work the weed edge in 4 feet of water and you can catch plenty of Pike, stop in the shop for a free how to Fillet Northern Pike instruction sheet.

Muskie opener this Saturday, depends on the weather if it stays hot look for bucktails to be the hot lure along with topwater baits, if the cold front moves in look for the Muskies to move tighter to structure. Use plastics such as Red October Tubes, Hairy Rubber lures or Dawgs.
