    Default Good Fishing Continues

Can't kick about the fishing so far this season. It seems that just about everything is biting. The only thing we haven't put in the boat yet is a musky, although we have seen several cruising the shallows while fishing for other species. We've been finding flowage fish anywhere from 3' to 15' relating to wood. In natural lakes new green cabbage in 6' to 10' of water is where the action is. Minnows have been the best bait although if the warm weather continues crawlers should become productive. Crappies are still spawning on the larger lakes but are starting to wind down on the smaller shallower lakes. Bluegills will be the next to do their thing with the bass not far behind. I have heard of some smallmouth starting to bed on smaller lakes. I targeted smallmouth last week one day on a large deep lake and found many prespawn smallmouth up shallow and feeding aggressively. We boated many using mostly plastics.
