Default First Thing In The Water

What's the first thing you try on the morning of the Walleye opener? Jig, rig, or crank bait? Shiner, rainbow, leech, or crawler?

Tradition is a jig tipped with a shiner minnow. Fish should be in the shallow water depths of 6 to 10 feet. I normally fish wind blown shorelines and points. I always bring leeches and crawlers with if needed. In the evening trolling shad raps is a good choice in the same shallow water. If you have multiple anglers in the boat mix colors and presentations trying to establish a patern.

    Good luck, Murph
