So I took a buddy out to Alum on Saturday. He is not a muskie fisherman but loves to fish for bass. I told him I was going to muskie fish and he said no problem he was going to do his own thing and might pick up one of my rods and give it a try if he got bored. We were fishing the shale wall in Crisco Bay (I think that is what the fist big bay North of Cheshire it is called) I was using traditional muskie baits and tackle, my buddy a spinning rod with 15lb power pro and small bass lures. 10 minutes into the trip I hear him say fish and proceed to look down and see a decent muskie following his tiny bait. Anyways 3 hours later he lands his third muskie of the day (31, 34 and 37) all on bass tackle and I got skunked. I did loose a nice fortyish fish on a rattle trap in the same area. Water clarity was decent in certain areas, temps in the upper 60's. Next time I might go bass fishing and maybe ill catch a muskie.
