Thumbs up Tomahawk Panfish Report 4/30/2012

With the warming temps this week look for the panfishing to really pick up.

Very good reports on Crappies and should only get better. As the afternoon warms we have been finding Crappies in the 4 to 6 foot depths. Small minnows and a 1/64 oz jig below a bobber was our best method for catching these slabs. Fish in areas that have lots of wood structure, bays that have lots of driftwood or trees laying in the water. Start fishing outside of these areas and moving slowly in. These Crappies are very spooky so keep it quiet. If you find the Crappies very active switch over to Beetle Spins or Charlie Bee's.

Bluegills, Once again afternoon hours are better as the sun warms up the shallows. We found gills in 2 feet of water. Use Waxies with icefishing jigs below a small bobber such as the Mini Rocket Bobbers. Fish the calm sunny back bays.

Perch, not to much to report but the few that are being caught have been on Brown Jigs tipped with a half crawler. Fish the new weed growth.

As you fish the bays for panfish be prepared for some Pike! We found lots of these toothy critters back in there with the gills.

    Good Luck
