well the opener is only a few days away. I was out today looking around on a area lake. The current water temps are aroung 50 degrees. I noticed some weed growth starting already. It is shaping up to be a good but somewhat different opener. I think that most of the walleye spawning has completed. I expect them to be close to the spawning areas but I am going to look for new weed growth because once the walleyes are done spawning and have had a week or so to recoup, they will go on the feed bag. I am going to begin by throwing cranks over shallow cover. As the sun comes up I will switch, unless the cranks are still producing, to minnows and jigs worked a little deeper during the day and repeat the scenerio in the evening. The advantage to throwing cranks is that you can cover alot more water and find out where they are.

Also I still have a few openings in May!

Good Luck and remember to watch the bag limits as they change from year to year.
