The 2012 open water season got off to a great start. Just about ideal conditions with an overcast sky and a nice chop on the water had the fish very active. Just about all species were willing to bite. My clients and I spent the opening day on two of our area flowages. We caught all of our fish in 7' to 10' of water on jigs and fatheads. The fish were relating to drowned wood and hit our presentations aggressively. We caught mostly walleyes but also had quite a few pike, bass, and panfish mixed in. Reports from other people I spoke to were also good. People targeting crappies were doing well as they starting to go into full spawn mode on many lakes.

Well that was Saturday. Sunday was a washout for me with the cold rainy condtions, but I am anxious to get back out on the water this week.
