Unseasonal warm temps cleared the ice from the lakes earlier then ever and pushed the water temps into the low 50's jump starting the Walleye, Northern, and Perch spawn. Then a sudden dip in temps dropped the water temps down the mid 40's again. The walleye and perch are still spawning in some of the area lakes and the Crappie are scattered from shallow to deep. A couple more warm sunny days and most of the Crappie should in the shallow warm water. There are some reports of fishermen doing well on Crappie in some shallow water areas already.

The Redhorse bite is on, and some reports of Channel Cats catches in the Flambeau river, just a simple river rig and crawlers are taking these fish. If you drive along hwy 70 west of Fifield you will see the anglers lined on the shorelines of the Flambeau in hopes landing enough to make a batch of pickled or smoked fish.

Just remember that the game fish season is closed in all waters of Price County including the rivers, so you cannot keep Walleye, Bass, Pike, Trout, or Musky.
