Despite the fact that Minnesota anglers are asking for larger pike, recent legislation forced the DNR to remove special regulations from numerous MN lakes. It also stops them from implementing any special pike regs on any other lakes. These regs were the only effective way of maintaining quality sized pike in our fisheries!
In order to put the new laws into effect, the DNR must take public input on the changes. Please note the DNR did NOT support these changes. We have the opportunity to provide input on these changes. Since these changes have been legislated it may not have any immediate effect but providing input will give the DNR a solid base of information when these issues come back up in the future. Our input could prove extemely valuable in changing, or reversing these decisions when the opportunity arises.
