Once again our group of 7 (6 from IL and 1 yopper) had a blast on beautiful LVD. Eventhough the northerns' action wasn't fast and furious to say the least, we managed to put about 15 on the ice, all standard 20 - 24". Perch were biting but unfortunately there weren't any decent size to them. We fished anywhere between 5 and 12 FOW above weeds - the depth did not seem to make a difference though. Presentation was playing a huge role this time around. If last year pike were smashing anything under water, this year they showed a strong preference to lighter leaders, smaller hooks and shiners. Tipups rigged with steel leaders or suckers were ignored and those rigged for walleye with 6 lb test leaders and shiners were the ones that did the most work and the side effect of that is we lost about 30 persent of the fish due to break offs. We did not see any walleyes...

We did run into some slush problems Thursday and had to move to a different spot to avoid standing in water ankle dip all day and even had to go on a rescue mission to pull the shanty and the stuck smowmobile out. Otherwise the weather was just awesome with spring like sun and warmer temps.

As always, big thanks to Winddrift resort and personally to Dave for being a great host and making this trip happen for us!

Good luck fishing!
