Pulled an all nighter with my oldest son Friday just before sundown until late Saturday morning on the same local lake we've been fishing all week. Nothing on tip-ups the whole 15 hours we were out there but we had a ball catching crappies! It was another one of those nights where electronics were key, we were in 23' of water & had fish all over the water column, early we could only connect with fish within 6' of the hole & as the night went on, the fish around 12-'15' started cooperating by 2am only the fish on or near the bottom would hit. Little Atom's with wedgies or nuggies worked early, perch pattern spoons tipped with minnowheads or bloodworms tipped with spikes worked better as the night progressed. By the time we left we had almost 3" of water on the ice (open floor clam hub) & ice conditions were deteriorating quick, on the way home we saw Randall Township Fire Dept putting up warning signs up about unsafe ice, and worse yet I saw a news report of a local who fell thru on Pistakee Lake just south of the border, sadly they did recover his body later in the weekend.. Going to take a few days off from fishing, looks like a cooling trend coming on this week, hopefully this will tighten things up a bit.. Good Luck & Be Careful!
