A friend and I worked 21 feet of water north of Kipling today looking for perch. Conditions prevented moving much - too cold and windy. Anyway we found that by ripping one-quarter ounce Lewis Rat-L-Trap lures as attractors we could pull in from 4 to 12 perch within minutes of using the attractor and this work every time we ripped the Rat-L-Traps. On this day though, we also attracted pike. We had one big one and two smaller ones around for hours and they kept the perch spooked. We had two cameras out and watched the big pike bite the fish-shaped lens of my friend's camera. We kept a dozen perch, but would have done better if the pike were not present. We also saw a smallmouth bass and several walleyes. Small "teardrop" lures tipped with wigglers worked best for perch.
