Thread: Yellow gate is open

    Default Yellow gate is open

We've had several people ask when the yellow gate access would be opened. Someone from the DNR stopped by the shop today to let me know he was on his way to open the gate, this afternoon. Should be good to go.

I took a drive up to the second yellow gate this morning just past the Day's River. The gate is open...I drove in there and spoke with a DNR officer who was cleaning up the landing area. I didn't go on the ice, but the word is there's 5+ inches of ice in the upper bay. There was a shanty straight out from the there, and the DNR guy said there was a 4-wheeler out there driving around on the ice yesterday. I'm thinking I might try for perch out of there Thursday.

There are also a couple of shanties on the east bank...probably coming in from the other side by Vagabond's somewhere.

I guess there's an open spot of water straight out from the first yellow gate.

Caution and safety are the words of the day...but it looks like it's possible to get out on the upper bay now.
