Thread: weather and waves?

    Default weather and waves?

Trying to make a plan for the weekend... just wondering from those of you more experienced on the bay what 11mph out of the southwest translates to for the weekend. How rough would you guess the bay to be?

11 MPH is about perfect for a decent Bite. Depending if you are in the upper or lower bay but waves would be 1-2 feet at most.
Just hope this current Rain/Snow storm is past us by then !

Looks like we are going to launch out of Kipling tonight and head north. Any recommendations on specific spots to get started looking for eyes after dark? Depths?
    thanks in advance

The best reports we've been getting have been from shallow water (less than 15 feet.) There will be a lot of traffic up on the reefs. There are lots of shallow areas that you can fish and get away from the crowd. Don't be afraid to fish south of Gladstone.

At least the wind has settled down a bit for the fishermen...

I guess it's better than what we had on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it's still blowing pretty good. Forecast was for SW winds, but it ended up being much more Southerly, (at least after I started to fish today.) Even with the drift sock out, I was doing over 1MPH. That's a little faster than I like to go with the lindy rigs. Bite was off, too. Only caught 2 bass, and lost 3 more. Water temp was 45 degrees.

The water should be cooling down some, I had 30 degrees here in Fairport this morning.
