Sorry no fishing here. I took the weekend off and did some stuff around the house/garage. If anyone knows of a good heater for a rather large garage give me a call.

It's Vodes... I have one. Brand new in the box. Are you looking for gas or electric? This is for natural gas. The ol man always bought two of everything. It's a Modine Hot Dawg 75,000 BTU. Heats my 2.5 car garage up in minutes. I bought a thermostat separtely and leave it at 45 degrees during winter, then if I'm going to work in there, I'll turn it to 70. It's awesome. Let me know... as Joanna and I will be up by you at the end of the month, I could throw it in the bed of the truck.

I put the in home version of this is my basement. It's ventless and 99.9% efficient. They also make a garage version, but the biggest one is 30,000 BTU. Supposed to heat up to 1000sq ft.

I'm sure it doesn't heat as rapidly as the one Silverfox has. But it does heat up my basement nicely in about 5 minutes. I've seen the garage version on sale for about $150 at Fleet Farm.

Is your garage insulated? If so, the 30,000 will work, but it probably wont get it about 50 in there. and it will take some time to heat it up. If it is uninsulated, you'll need a bigger unit for sure.

My garage is 800 sq. ft w/ 8-1/2' ceilings, fully insulated with a 16' door, 8' door, and walk door (all insulated doors). I keep it at 55 all winter with a 90k LP hanging furnace. I have had with ventless heaters before and would not recommend this under any circumstance, vented is the only way to go if you want to keep what little brain cells you have left. When I am working out there it is no problem to run 70-74 degrees, but on really cold days, say -20, it runs a bit to get there. On 20-30 degree days it will get to 70 in about 20 minutes. Do some quick online calculators to determine what you need for BTU output if you haven't already. In short, stay away from ventless, and don't under-size if you plan on heating all year. Also mount your thermostat away from the doors.
