    Default May Fishing Update

Lake Trout fishing has been fantastic. Shallow running baits, Shad Raps, Spoons, Rattle Traps, running in 20 - 30 feet of water. Casting reefs and trolling shorelines of islands. NEWS FLASH! We have stumbled on a very exciting presentation, running a spoon with 5 oz. of lead 8 feet in front of it, IN THE PROP WASH, this is toe to toe combat with Lakers 7-12 pounds. Hang on to the rod for sure. Unreal fishing!!! Walleye fishing was a little slow on the opener but, has really picked up now. 40-70 fish in the morning, mostly males, 6 pounds largest so far. 6-10 feet of water, Northland Fire Ball Jigs and Berkley Gulp, minnows or leeches. Amazing Stuff! Northern Pike scattered in bays and on points. Water temps. on Rowan are around 48-52 degrees. Cold nights have keep the water temps down. Rain forecasted for the weekend.
