    Default Fishing Report 5/25/11

Water surface temps on the Eagle River and Three Lakes Chain are ranging from 58 to 64.5 degrees. Over the the weekend the wind was blowing predominantly out of the SE but after a front came through on Saturday afternoon around 3pm, the wind switched to the NE. Fishing has still been excellent as we have been getting action from all species on the usual 1/16th oz jig and minnow combo. The active fish have been in depths of 3 to 7 feet of water and wind blown spots have been holding the more active fish. Be sure to vary your jigging presentations!! The crappie are starting to hit well in shallow bays and areas with lots of stumps and submerged cover. Using either the jig and minnow or a slip bobber has been working well and some nice fish are being taken. The pike action has been phenomenal too! Make sure to double-up your fishing line in the area closer to your jig if you are getting a lot of bite-offs.

I cannot wait for the muskie opener this coming weekend!!!

Wishing you all big fish and a great and safe time on the water this weekend!

    Fish hard,

    Default Nice Fish

    Chas,

Sounds like you are doing really well. My brother and I can't wait to get up to Wisconsin and get out of Cincinnati for a while. We recently have stocked up on 1/16 oz jig heads and slip bobbers as well. We also recently just purchased a new boat (2011 super guide bass tracker w/ 40 hp mercury) and have it broke in and ready to go. We also have purchased a new humingbird gps/fishfinder with down scan imaging. I bought a fishing hot spots mat of the chain of lakes and have been looking at spots with weeds so we can fish those weed lines. Suprisingly we have had great luck this spring with crappie fishing in Cincinnati catching White Crappies ranging from 12" to 15", which is great size for Cincinnati, Ohio but needless to say we have the Wisconsin itch bad!!! Thank you so much for posting how you are doing and the tips. Can't wait for June the 10th!
