Wow!!! What a great opener! Business what busy at the shop and a lot of people hit the local waters for the big day. The weather was nice and fishing was even better. Walleye were hitting very well with most fish being taken in shallower water on fathead minnows. Some fishermen were catching them on stick baits as well. Most of the fish were males but we did have a few reports of some upper 20's females being taken. The pike action was hot as well with a good number of huge fish. We had pike brought in the store from 32" to 38". Crappie and Gills were also being caught shallow, look for them anywhere the sun is shinning on the water for most of the day, also look around fallen trees, stumps and old weeds where they suck up all the warmth from the sun.
