Thread: Opening weekend report

    Default Opening weekend report

Fishing was good for those that picked the largest lakes in the county....walleyes were shallow and pre-spawn in most cases. We caught limits of fish both mornings, however in totally contrasting locations. Saturday we found our fish in 4 to 8 feet of water and Sunday it was 17 to 22 feet of water. Jigs and fatheads worked the best for us. A few were on crankbaits.

The locations were similiar, either sand or gravel bottom near or on spawning grounds. Water temps were 40 to 44 on the largest lakes.

With a wet week ahead, the water temps should slowly climb, and with that being said, weed growth should start to emerge...which will be the next structure that these fish will move into.

Spent a little time crappie fishing yesterday and caught a ton of small males in wooded shorelines on small Gulp Fry or Cubbies...

Had a great time with Brother in law Andy, friends Jeff and Jon on opening weekend...gotta enjoy a fun weekend with the boys...now starts the guiding season...

    Good Luck!
