Early May 2011 - Coho are back

A volatile April behind us, weather shows signs of stabilizing and fishing has picked up considerably.

While we had been catching some a fair number of big Kings recently, the Coho had been more difficult but that changed Friday after we returned to port after a half-day trip with 17 fish. We had good numbers of Coho in early April but the weather screwed things up. May is normally primetime for the Coho run and the latest haul hopefully gets us back on track again for the rest of this month with strong numbers of Coho and more big Kings mixed in there.

We also had some interesting weather come through while we were on the water and a red-wing blackbird followed us out while we were under power, hoping we would slow down soon as he quickly perched himself for a rest when we began fishing.
