    Default Bag Limit

When do they say what the bag limit will this year. I now it's after the Indian declarations, but, I guess I'm looking for what date they announce it.

    Default Soon

    Hi corby,

The tribes usually announce their intentions just before they actually go out and harvest. There is no set date. They have to wait for the ice to go out, and that is now happening fast. I,m posting a lot of pictures from yesterday of some boat landings and bridges. As you can see, the ice is dark and melting fast. We should know what the bag limits are soon.

Of interest, A bog had settled in right in front of the "CC" south landing.

I went to the DNR spring hearings last night, and the biggest concern was how they worded some rule proposals. Specifically, the 40" statewide length limit on Muskies combined with a 28" size limit for ten lakes on Muskies. One such lake was in Sawyer county, and a lot of people were upset, and right fully so. A resolution was introduced to rectify the situation, but that could take years. Luckily, most people practice catch and release of Muskies. Hopefully, that particular lake won't be harmed in the mean time.

Another big concern was the over protection of LM. Bass. One proposal is to put most of NW WI in the southern Bass zone. That would allow for people to keep LM Bass from the May opener. I hope this passes. I won't know if any proposals pass for a while. Now we vote with paper and pen, so no more roll call vote. I'll post the results of all the votes as I hear about them.

    Tom:

I think the tribes have made their declarations as indicated by this article in the Lakeland Times:

    http://www.lakelandtimes.com/main.as...rticleID=12916

I was looking for the published lakes from the DNR and at this time am unable to find. Last year it was published this week, so very likely we could see it before weeks end...

    Default No set time

    Hi Mark,

There is no set time frame to announce it. It is all related to ice out. They usually wait until just before and during their harvest what their intended totals will be. It should be soon now. The ice is going out fast.
