Got out this morning with fellow FRV member Dave VanDoorn (aka DVD). We spent about 5 hours fishing for those early season crappie and were rewarded for our efforts. Fished in back channels; temps were 43-46. Minnow/bobber combo again. Ended up keeping about 18 (10-13") for a nice fish fry. Water levels had a major impact as the lakes are down 8-12" from last week alone.
Met some friends for lunch over at Steize's Resort on Bluff and ended the day fishing muskies with my good friend Randy C. Found a few new weeds in some areas but no muskies. Water temps hit about 48 as a high for the day. Fish are still in the pre-spawn mode and should start to appear from here on out.
Best tip: Slow down and fish small bait presentations!
