    Default C-10

Yes I know I've seen it, as I even know where to pull in with the pontoon. So now I will say site C-10 in Merkle Lake.

    Default Its about time

Don, where have you been, this being your first guest? It is in the back of Lake Ten. There are three little islands in a row. Can't believe that Gus didn't guest that one. I've seen him back there many times.

All the ice went off yesterday, but it snow again last night.

Default Can't believe this one lasted almost 5 hours...

Looking north from the north end of the Mud Lake basin. I'm starting to think this whole game is a clever plot to point people away from the places where you actually catch fish...

Blue, didn't think I was that obvious. Notice there are no fish pictures, there is a reason.

Docks, lift and boat are going in this weekend.

Is it in the narrows ? Your back is towards the big island looking towards the mainland . To the right is the Pink Rock and Left ( around corner , etc. ) is Lake Bastine ?

Aw, c'mon Tiny. There's a hundred miles of shoreline that looks like that!
    15 more days for me!

Is it going through the narrows towards Lake Bastine ? The shoreline is the ' Big Island ' and to your right in front would be the ' black rock ' ?

    Default No, sorry

Your right a lot of the flowage does look like that. Its going north, first bend, towards the pink rock.

Put the docks, lift and boat in this last weekend. Had temps in the 30's,, high winds and snow. Talk about ruff, but we're ready for the opener.

    Here is a easy one,

    Default Have a great season

I'll give you that one. Its where Beaver Creek comes into the Flowage on the south end. The picture is of the chain of little islands at it's entrance. With opener one day away, this pretty much concludes the guess that spot.

The rest will be those that are just plain cool.

    Good luck,

Default Where is that mystery island?

Hey, Tiny Fisherman: It was 50 years ago (1961) that Earl Tomek (of the now non-existent Tomek's Old Log Inn) took me fishing on TFF and vowed to show me the famous (or, should that be infamous?) "Mattress Island."

But, he never did. This despite my many attempts at bribing him through the years by purchasing numerous bottles of "Kugel."

Naturally I learned the location of "Pump Island" and "Swimmer's Island" and other islands such as that (including" Donut Lake"), but I've never come across the delights presumably offered at "Matress Island."

Could you possibly show a photo of same and then maybe somebody will disclose its location for my own edification.

    Thanx!

(Golly! Earl wasn't pulling my leg, was he? Would one fisherman do that to another?)

Tiny, thank you for helping us pass the time until we can return to the TFF.

For me, that's 9 days away!

    Default Where did you stay

1961 was the 2nd year we came up to the flowage. It was also the year my dad hired Earl to take me muskie fishing. I remember getting my stuff ready at about 4:30 am and hearing wolfs howling in the distance. That caused every dog for miles to go nuts. The day dawned dead calm and he decided to try Moose lake instead as he thought it was too quiet to fish the TFF for muskies. We never raised a fish, but we became buddies so to speak. As I grew up and started taking my own trips, there were nights he shut off the outside lights and we shot pool until close to dawn.

My wife even puked one morning while driving back to O'Meara's after a night with Earl and his wife (Elsie I believe).

Anyway Musky Mauler, how old were you in 1961 and where were you staying up there, or did you live up there?

My parents brought up up there twice a year. A week around Memorial Day and a week around Labor Day and except for 1 year at Joe Miller's, we always stayed at O'Meara's.

    Good luck,
I know that stump quite well on the right hand side as heading in to beaver creek. It is quite away from the entrance though. Pretty wild you would post that stump. It has always been there too, I remember it as a youngster.

Thanks for all the positive responses. Hope to see everybody on the water. I'll take a picture of Mattress Island and post it, as long as it's not too bad.

Well tomorrow is the big day. Tonight I'll dreaming about walleyes dancing at the end of my line. Fluffy will be dress in all her garb. Anyway you know how the rest of the story goes.

Good luck and catch the big one,

Nice woodies, Tiny, besides its too early for FFluffy to be planting her flowers anyway... and it keeps the walleyes shallow a little longer too!!!
