    Default Restoration of Goretex?

Has anyone had any luck in restoring their old Goretex suits before?

I have heard of guys using Camp Dry and other "wash-in" products to restore waterproofness. I have an older pair of bibs that are leaky in the knees/crotch area and would love to bring them back to life.

    Larry,

I had already called Cabela's Customer Service and asked them the same question before I saw your reply. They highly recommended the product below. (The same brand you had just posted.)

    Thanks!

After reading the directions on how to use this stuff, it clearly states how bad detergent is for waterproof garments such as Goretex. They even recommend cleaning out all old detergent before using this product to prevent any detergent from contacting the waterproof membrane.

I had heard that Cabela's changed their policy to "garments purchased in 2003 and later". My 2 newer and primary rain garments work fine but I had 4 other parkas and 2 pairs of bibs that had been placed in the non-working pile since the early 2000's. For 25.00 (the cost of the Nikwax), I decided to try and bring them back to life one last time.

I tested one of my restored Goretex sets yesterday during the snowfall while plowing my driveway and they appear to work once again.
