We had close to a full house this last week end with ice fishermen fishing the west side of Trader's Bay, Goose Island and Duck Point. The ice is about 18" now with anywhere from 9" to 20" of snow cover. We have roads plowed for our resort guests onto Trader's Bay where we have no slush, and our neighboring resort, Shores at Pine Point plows 'public' roads to Goose and through out the Walker Narrows, you can pay at their pay box. Heavy duty trucks can get around in some areas with out plowed roads, just watch for the drifting.
Our guys this last week end were each leaving with close to their limit on perch, with more than half the take 10" or more. The most productive areas were in Trader's Bay, where they were fishing in about 14' of water with fatheads and yellow, white and green jigs. We had some guests using blue Swedish Pimples, size 2 and 3 that have been doing very well. The evening walleye bite has been producing a few in the afternoon and evening and a few bonus northern have also come in.
Last couple of days south of Goose Island has not been as productive although that is likely to change. For our resort guests we have a deal with our neighboring resort to use their roads with no fee.
If you are thinking about coming up our two bedroom is open this coming week end for $180 based on up to four guests, that's just $45 a night per person, which is about what all of our cabins run in the winter. Good luck fishing and please let us know if we can provide any additional information.
