I had the pleasure of having Mark and Jake jump in the Pooh boat for a half a day this past October. It was a lot of fun getting to fish with the boys after 3-4 trips this summer trying to get out casting with them and not being able to make it work.
The day started off a little hinky with a parking job on a rock that was just under the water this year due to a higher than normal late fall water level. So after some grunting, groaning, pushing, heaving and a little stressful sweating....we got back to fishing. (Another good reason to mark rocks of all kinds on the GPS..you won't ALWAYS be able to see the darn things, eh.)
We started with a nice big 39.5" pike, the biggest of the fall in the Pooh boat. Jake was a fish fighting machine and handled all the fish on this day. A total of 5 pike and 1 muskie were landed in our half day of fishing. The day also included "the one that got away." Interestingly, this was the day where all the strikes except the first came on the rod that was being held and pumped regularly on the deep side (outside.) We'll have to make it two full days next fall and see if we can find a repeatable pattern there.
Thanks to Mamma Tollander and Jess for sending the boys away for the weekend. As you can see in the photos, I made them wear their life vests at all times!!

Jake's 36" Northern
and finally Jake's 42" chunky muskie that waited til nearly sundown to give us a muskie in the boat and save a skunk.
Awesome job, Jake. It was a blast watching you battle those toothy critters.
