Thread: Muskie Action

  1. #1

    Default Muskie Action

The muskie bite continues even though we have had another dose of Indian Summer the past few days. Temperatures reaching into the upper 50's and lower 60's have been with us the last 5 days. Water temperatures in the mid to low 40's are keeping the bite alive.
True to history the largest portion of the action is on suckers and occurs 10 am to dark which is now about 4:30.
Some of the fish are moving deeper, and some are still relatively shallow at 10feet. The key is using 12 to 14 inch suckers, many of the muskies are still tail biting and fisherman are missing the hookset. I have only missed 2 muskies in a month because of knowing this fact.

Knowing when to set the hook as been key in boat this fall.
Ron Andrews saw this done first hand on 11/7/10 as he set the hook on a beautiful 47 incher.
