Default Weekly Fishing Report: Sept 11-18, 2010

Weather has turned late fall like and the 14 day trends shows below normal temps for awhile. Fishing has been picking up if you are looking for walleye and crappies. The usual places for crappies have started to produce, although I havent heard reports of the big schools stacked up on sonar yet.

Walleyes have been the best on gravel flats, near current. Current areas in deeper water will generally be the ticket this time of year. Minnows will start to shine even more so as the fall progresses. Bottom bounces with spinners and jigs will be the 2 most popular presentations. Keep in contact with the bottom and you'll have the best chance to get fish.

Muskies have been a little slow this past week, but those working hard on the water have been getting some results. Bucktails and glide baits of been the best producers. A couple guests picked up a few fish trolling points with crank baits during the high wind and cold front conditions as well. The water temps are coming down and an early trolling season may be in the works.

Northern activity has been excellent in Obabikon Lake (shallows of course), but haven't been caught with any regularity other places this week.

Nobody fishing for bass, but they should be started to get caught using minnows and jigs on summer walleye humps. Give it a shot for a lot of fun catching some nice smallies.

A few hunters around as well. One group of 2 guys did very well on the weekend, while others struggled to find birds. Jumpshooting has been tough for some with the rice so thick in many of the bays. Another group had some marksman issues and saw plenty of birds, without dropping many. BUMMER!!

Not sure if I will get out this weekend myself. Wind in the forecast and we're quite busy through the end of the month here at the resort. Still a few openings here and there so give us a call if you dont want to get left out of in the cold before the end of the season.

    Good luck on the water!

    Hey Justin-
Here's one of the fish we got this past week trolling the wind-blown points w/ pikie minnows. Not a huge one but starting to get that nice white belly filled up for winter....like the bear that was chowin on the acorns outside of camp! Fall is definitely in the air up there!
